The furnishings were old but fitted well with the building. Bed had lovely white linen and the bathroom was very clean. Food was very good and staff were very helpful and polite. We had a lovely five days in our sea view room.

Just back from a three night August Bank Holiday break to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary at The Royal Hotel. This was a return visit as we stayed here over Christmas 2014. The hotel has been decorated outside which gives a much more appealing look to the place. The project on updating rooms has also been started, and I hope will continue; the not yet done rooms are still “tired looking”. The food was first class and the beds very comfortable; rooms were very clean, presentable, and serviced daily. Some of the furniture could do with “updating”. The Staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them; especially the reception staff, Julie, Doug, and Kim.

Just came back from a weekend at the royal hotel it was lovely we stayed in room 105 it had a sea view and was right on the front yes it was old and the floors weren’t level but it is an old building and the room was large,not what you get in amodern hotel at least you had plently of room,the breakfast was ok and the staff were really nice and helpful.The only issue really was parking you can park down the side of the hotel or round the back or in the hotel next door if there are spaces.but that really was the only issue if you book an old hotel then the furniture will be old and the floors will be sloped and creak but that’s part of its character and its nice that the building hasn’t been turned into offices.
